Welcome! I am a Drama and Language Arts Educator based in Vancouver. I am currently completing my Bachelor of Education at UBC and just finished a successful practicum at Handsworth Secondary. This blog is a place where I will both document my experience with rural education in Gold River B.C. and publish my UBC inquiry project on drama classrooms as "safe" spaces/places.
BIOGRAPHY
Originally from Victoria, I have been studying or working in Drama in Education since 2010. I hold a BFA from UVic in Theatre Directing and Canadian Literature and a MA from UofT in the history of drama education in Canada and contemporary intercultural theatre. Deeply influenced by Friere and other critical pedagogues, I am currently interested in exploring how student-centered and project-based learning can function within the traditional classroom. My ongoing inquiry research for UBC is focused on the multiple tensions between safety and danger required for meaningful learning in the drama classroom.
